Mornings are such an essential part of our days because they literally set the tone for the rest of the day. Every morning is essentially a reset button – a brand new opportunity to shape your life into your ideal reality. Whether or not you’re a morning person, the following checklist of morning habits to incorporate into your routine are sure to give you that feel-good vibe and kick off your day on the right foot!
Make Your Bed
Start off your day with a feeling of accomplishment while also making sure you won’t be tempted to snuggle into bed for a few minutes after you get up. Making your bed first thing in the morning is a great way to start off your day productively!
Hydrate Yourself With Some H2O
After sleeping for so many hours, our bodies naturally get a bit dehydrated and it’s always a good idea to rehydrate yourself upon waking. So, pour yourself a big glass or two of water and toss in some lemon for an extra healthy kick to start off the day on a healthy and nourishing note.
Stretch a Little
Does anything feel as good as stretching out your body after waking up? Give your muscles some quality time and spend a few minutes stretching whether it’s just with some random stretches or a more structured yoga routine. This will get the blood moving in your body and wake you up!
Take a Look Outside Your Window
So often, we forget to appreciate the little things in life, like the view outside your window. Whether a cityscape awaits you outside your window, a suburban paradise, or something in between, take a minute or two to glance outside your window and take in the scene. There is beauty everywhere around us if only we take the time to slow down our thoughts and open up our eyes to glance around.
Breathe In Some Fresh Air
After being indoors all night long, it’s nice to get a little oxygen boost. So, step outside, close your eyes, and take some rejuvenating deep breaths! You’ll be surprised at how good it feels to just breathe deeply and feel the fresh air on your skin.
Tidy Up Your Bedroom
If you’re like me and hate coming back to a messy room or home, an awesome way to combat this problem is to get into the habit of tidying up your room before you leave the house. Take a quick 5-10 minutes to put things away back to where they go. If you didn’t pick out your outfit the night before and now your bed and closet look like a tornado hit them, just quickly put everything away and tidy up- your future self will thank you when you come back home later.
Brew Yourself a Cup of Warm Tea/Coffee
After you’re done getting ready for the day and you’re done with your morning routine, a good way to kick your butt into work gear is to brew yourself a cup of some piping hot tea (or coffee) in your favorite mug. I like to brew myself a cup of green tea and then bring it with me to my desk while I fire up my laptop. This gives my mind the “it’s time to work now” signal and also gives me a caffeine boost to power me through my work.
